ALL THOUGHTS ARE LIES


This is a pretty radical jump for some, though the more one is willing to look at it as an actuality, the more it can be Seen.

Let's use an example of when you first meet someone.  You may say "hello" and your first thoughts are "what a nice person" but you have only just said hello.  Then you look at their pants and there is a rip and you think "oh they must be poor" then they say something that you don't agree with and you may think "oh well we don't have anything in common" and then they might tell you something else about their life and you think "oh I love this person."

This happens all the time doesn't it?  Don't you find yourself flip flopping between
good thoughts and bad thoughts about everything that appears before you?  But thoughts only have the meaning that you give to them.  Only you can say what thought you think is good and what thought you think is bad about anything that appears before you. 

What you are being pointed towards here, is that no matter what you think...it is a lie. 

Thoughts are lies, because they do not reflect Truth.  Truth cannot be thought.

Once this is Seen you will begin to experience each moment as it actually is, not how you think it is or how you think it should be.  This happens by no longer believing what you think is true and being willing to be wrong about what you think about anything and everything.

How can you verify that anything that you just read is True and not just more thoughts (which they actually are however, they are thoughts that Point to Truth)?  You can do this by beginning to watch your thoughts.  As you pay attention to what you think, you may begin to see that "thoughts" cannot be in the present moment, they are always about the past or the future.  To be in the present moment you cannot think about it, because each thought moves you out of the moment you are in to describe it to you.  Like if you are looking a tree, you are just seeing it, but the moment you think "oh the tree is brown" it is about what you have seen not what you are seeing.  This may not be clear at first, however it will be if you continue to watch your thoughts, paying attention to what you think, but not believing it, because even when you say the tree is brown...what is brown?  Really isn't that just a word we picked out of any combination of letters to agree that when we see what we "think" is that color we can share the experience of the color, but how do we even know our eyes see the same color, when all we are actually doing is agreeing on a word about a color.  This may seem complicated at first but it becomes very, very simple, when one stops believing and eventually even paying attention to the thoughts and begins to just SEE.

Ultimately it does not matter if you see this, because life happens in spite of what you or anyone thinks about it.  That is the good news.

DREAMS...


At night when we dream, people show up for us, friends, family, love ones we have lost, animals, stories, dramas...everything shows up in a dream for you to play in.  Have you ever had a dream that was as real as if you were awake?  Have you ever had a dream where you were in a different body?  Ever dream you were an animal, that you could fly, that you had powers you don't seem to have in waking life?  Have you ever wondered how all of these things appear for you?

Let's say that you see your friend in a dream, did they actually appear for you or did you create them?  If they just appear for you, where did they come from and if you created them how did you do that and simultaneously play out both the parts?  Is it possible that you are playing out all the parts in the dreams you have?  If not, who is playing them?  If so, how can you be everyone?

This is where if one is paying attention, something can be Revealed or Seen.  Because that last question if you are willing to look at the question deeply, you will begin to see that you have misidentified yourself.  Not only in dreams but in waking life.  If you look and can see the possibility that you are playing everyone in your dream, then who is the real you?  To be everyone in the dream ... you also have to be "dreamt."  

                    Who's Dreaming?

If you take the position that you are not playing all the parts, then who are they that have shown up for you, where do they come from and where do they go to when you wake?  As in your dreams, so is life, these same questions one can ask of dreaming one can ask of life.  Is there a possibility in you that you are being Dreamt, just as everyone that appears for you?  Remember the dreams that you have had that seemed so real it took some time after waking to Realize it was just a dream?  Such a similarity may appear for you in Life and it will appear for you upon Death which is the waking from the Dream of "Life."  That is why this simple question of "Who Am I?" is so significant because you do not need to wait for Death to find out who you are...who is actually Dreaming all of it.  The one thing that can be shared with you...is that it is not who you think it is.

THE NOW MOMENT



The Now Moment is such a simple truthful phrase and often completely missed out on.  How often are you completely aware of the Moment you are In?  Take a look, what is actually going on around you?  Do you find that the thoughts that appear are telling you all the things you have to get done, that you are not doing?  Can you be some other place than where you are?  Let's look honestly.  Are you focused on what is going on around you, in front of you or is the attention on the thoughts about the past or the future?  You can only have thoughts about the past or the future because thoughts are not in the Present Moment.  Even a thought about the Present Moment, is in the past (can you see that?).  

The Present Moment cannot be thought.  To think it...is to not be Aware of it.  To become Aware of it, begin to pay attention to what you are actually doing, not what you think you should be doing.  If you should be doing it, you would be, so don't worry about what you should be doing and pay attention to what you are.

You are in the perfect Moment, Present Moment you can be in (that is why it is the Present/Gift).  If you weren't supposed to be in the moment that you find yourself in, you would be somewhere else (your life is not of your doing...but you cannot see this until you begin to pay attention).  It is not about stopping thoughts, they will still be there, it's refocusing the attention on what is happening, not what is thought about what is happening and not what is thought about what could or could not happen.  This is not something to "think" about (even though you probably will). This is something to be Aware of.  Be Aware of the Life you are In.

THE GARDEN (Digging Up The "I" Thought).



There is a Garden here at the Ranch and there are also weeds...one of the things that has been shared is that if you don't want the weeds to come back...then you have to get them at the bottom...at the base of the root.  If you pull to hard or fast or the soil is not damp enough and don't get all the root at once...then the weed will grow back.

It seemed like a good analogy for how it is with the "I" thought (who most think they are).  It is like a weed that if you don't get it by the very core...it will just spread and grow out from what is left and if it is just left it grows wild and tries to overtake the Garden.  

Let's start by taking a look at words..."words" in themselves are not real...they are just sounds and letters that were made up and agreed upon to mean certain things ... that is all the "I" thought is.  It is just a word...it is just a letter.  But you say it all the time like it means something...don't you?  "I" like this and "I" like that and "I" am so good or "I" am so shitty.  But do you ever look to see what this "I" is that you keep saying you are?

If there were no words ... no sounds ... would you still be?

So maybe you are beginning to see that every time you say "I" you may not be telling the truth.  Don't take it from me...it's something you will have to investigate...however...it might be the greatest investigation you've ever been on...just like when you pull that weed up out of the garden and you see that you got the whole root and you know that it is not going to be coming back to that part of the Garden...and the Garden we are speaking of in the domain of the "I" thought is the Garden of Heaven.  

Now Heaven is just a loaded word because people have all kinds of fantasies about what Heaven is and who will be there and they imagine all kinds of things...but what if Heaven has been completely misunderstood and actual Heaven...is just the pulling out...rooting out the weed called "I."  

No "I" = Heaven.

The "I" thought says that everything should be some other way than how it is.  The "I" thought thinks it has to do all kinds of things to get where it already is.  The "I" thought thinks that Heaven is some other time than Now...but just because the "I" says all these things...doesn't make it so.  

Now depending on how much you have invested in creating this "I" you call "you," could make it hard to give up...the more important the "I/you" thinks it is...the deeper the root goes. So even though it can be dropped/pulled out/weeded in an instant...if you are like me...you don't get the whole root to come out all at once.  

One of the ways that you can begin to see that the "I" isn't real...is that it always is telling you about something that isn't actually happening. The "I" thought is past/future based.  It will say "I" am going to do this or "I" am going to do that...but all you have to do is look around ... just Stop...take a breath (deep one is always good for the body) and look around ... is there anything happening...right now...is there anything happening but these words being read?  All the things that "I/you" worry about that might happen or did happen...are not happening Now.  

Heaven = Now. 

The best way to begin to see the lie of the "I," is to begin to investigate what it is telling you.  The clearest way to see the non-existence of the "I" is to ask the only true question, the questions that all other questions are in avoidance of:

"Who am I?  Really."

It is never "how" or "why" it is always "who?"

Before the "I," I Am.

BLAME.


Recently a Friend of mine and I were talking about blame. He was sharing how people he worked with weren't doing what they were supposed to and making his life harder. He has had similar complaints over the years and this doesn't seem to change for him.

I have been trained that if I am blaming someone for something...then it is my unwillingness to look at myself that is causing the so called "problem." It is not ever about "them" out there. Now it took a bit of time for this to dawn on me...I spent probably the first 20 years of my life blaming others for my unhappiness or dilemas in life. A psychiatrist that I adorded, Howard, said to me when I was about 18...he said, "The reason you are so unhappy, is because you choose to be." Boy I didn't like hearing that...but it rang in my mind like an ancient bell and still shows up when I hear blame around me. Still, I spent about another 20 years with that thought..."choosing to be unhappy." And it did undo me over those 20 years.

It wasn't until it dawned that there is only really one "choice." Which was fairly recently, and that choice is to listen to thoughts or to pay attention to what the thoughts arise in (Stillness).

I have been pointed to that for a very long time and little by little the Space between the thoughts has become more and more apparent.  It takes a commitment to not believe what the thoughts say and to recognize that a thought is always about the past or the future it cannot be about the Present because you are IN the Present...so anything that one says or thinks or does...is movement out of the Present.  Even this typing is in the past...as it is typed it is once removed from the Present and then the reading of it is twice removed from the present :o)  So we are regressing (in a sense) to the Present by pulling the attention away from thoughts, typing, reading.  All those things will still happen but the attention is not on them...you will begin to see that the attention on the Space/Stillness allows for the reading, typing and thoughts to appear in and there is a crystal clarity that comes from Seeing that from that Space. It will take practice but it is the most worthwhile practice you will ever do.


Back to my Friend. So I've been sharing with him that the saying "if you are pointing your finger at someone...you have 3 pointing back at you." It is an overused anology, still it is a great pointer for anyone that really wants to look at and make a change in their life and behavior. All the sayings will begin to ring true if you put them on yourself first and not on an apparent "other."

However, you can use an "apparent other," (such as I am doing with my Friend) to look at yourself.

So I know that his life will not be any different if he is not willing to take responsibilty for what he is feeling...that it is not the other person's fault that he is mad about what the other person did. He is the one feeling it so it is in him.

He can make it simple for himself and in effect, will help everyone around him, if he can drop the story that he keeps repeating (and see that it is no longer happening...it is only a story about something that happened that he didn't like and keeps using to make himself miserable).

If he just drops the story and places his attention on the Space/Stillness that the thoughts are coming from, that Space/Stillness replaces the story and the story drops.  It may come right back but that momentary stopping is all that is needed to take the juice (the energy) out of the story and in effect heals and wipes it away.  Then if the story comes back you have the "choice" to put the juice back in it or to once again pay attention to Stillness/Space. 

This is where the saying "Truth or Illusion" comes from.  Truth...Stillness/Space or Illusion (story/thoughts).  Eventually there will be more Stillness/Space than there are stories/thoughts...and you will know the true meaning of "Peace."

Thoughts are not real...they are just words or pictures or sounds that take you away from the moment you are in, you miss where you are when you are paying attention to thoughts. The whole world passes you by when you are thinking about the past and the future...things that have seemed to happen and what might happen, when you are focused on a story that you keep telling yourself and it maybe about blame of what someone did to you or it maybe about the beautiful sunset you saw last night...both thoughts are just as meaningless because you are missing what is showing up for you right now by watching them.  There is nothing wrong with watching them...you can always watch them if you like, however you wouldn't be reading this if you weren't ready to not have them as your Master.

This sharing is make you aware that there is something (that is not a something) that the thoughts come from and you have the ability to come from That (you actually are That).

Just a few more words on blame. Blame is used for what you do not want to take responsibilty for and we have a world of cowards at this time. You can stand up and be the person you are looking for...by not looking for the person you want to be...you BE IT.

Don't expect someone else to change when you won't take responsibilty for how you are, how you feel, what you think.

To your own Self be True.

Let others to their own work.  And as you do yours and stand tall in who you are, those around you will see how taking responsibility for your life and those who are in it works for you.  

You be the one you are looking for everyone else to be.  You become more and more of that...stop complaining and become quieter and pay attention to your own behavior (ask yourself are you being what you want...are you reflecting what you want others to be or are you a teacher of complaining and whining and saying how it is not fair)?

If you begin to become a responsibile person that does things in a responsible way...those around you will either stand up and be true to themselves or they will leave and either way you will find yourself surround by all the help you need.

Few tidbits:

Blaming - Look at yourself first - You cannot see something that you aren't doing or haven't done yourself.  And be kind to yourself when you see that you do it...it's not about feeling bad it's about taking responsibilty and finding compassion for yourself and others.

Responsible - Be that which you seek others to be...as you become That... others will seek you out to become That.

Choice - Ultimately there is no Choice, however until such time as you are fully Aware of that...choose to pay attention to the Stillness that thoughts arise in. Take a pause (Pause) and pay attention to the space between thoughts.

If you need help establishing the pause, ask "Who?" "Who is aware of these thoughts?". "Who is this showing up for?"

And if you hear the old familiar "it is showing up for me" ask

                                        "Who am I?

and don't assume that you know.

TIME AND THE "I" THOUGHT



This morning the thought appeared "there is no you."  Took a look and was like wow … yes there is emptiness here and was able to see something that is being pointed too.  As a kid two things seemed very strange to me that everyone else agreed was absolutely real.  One is "time" and the other are "words." With a child's mind everything is much more simple and the simplicity pointed to the obviousness that both "time" and "words" were man-made.  From that realization it has formed to what can now be shared (seemingly) many, many years later with a more educated way of saying it (though not much more,  heh).

So, what was seen is that if one said the word "car" (was in one at the time) over an over again … it begins to lose it's meaning.  Without knowing it's meaning it could have meant anything …  as long as someone else agreed that whatever it was named it is what it is … however … and … just because something is "named" doesn't make it what the name is  (like humans).  That was what was revealed about words … the seeing that they are only "real" because we agree with others that certain sounds represent what we see with our eyes.

Then there was time … this took more time (heh) to grasp.  It was actually more of a wondering of "how could time be real?"   This image appeared of just space (not even that really) but just this vast Emptiness and then a grid is laid upon that Emptiness and it is called "time" but there really is no "time" or another way of saying it is … it is only and forever  Now.  



Time (the grid) is just another man-made thing that we all have agreed upon.  So "time"  is the grid that is laid on Emptiness/Space ... that drove the investigation even deeper.  A question arose "what is the universe laid on? ... what is behind the universe?"  Well the Gift was/is received and there is no word for what was/is Revealed ... could call it … Light or Energy, Brightness,  Emptiness, Space, Stillness (see picture above for vague concept the yellow is the backdrop or the screen that all appears on)...but it's not really that … what is before time and before words and before bodies and before the Universe and is right Now forever Now … it is Everything and everything is in IT … it animates everything and yet is not an IT (obsoletely indescribable).

So that created a bit of a freak out for a good 10 years … with bouts of paranoia that still arise (don't underestimate the power of beliefs).  However, the Universe and Time (don't say this to a scientist that hasn't dug all the way through) do not actually exist.  Which brings us back to the original thought that appeared this morning "there is no you."

Thoughts are just like the grid above and like words, they aren't actually there … go ahead and look for a thought … see if you can make one appear ... perhaps they are just echoes in "time."  (Cosmic Joke.)

Most things that are written here on this site/blog you will have to investigate for yourself.  All these hands can do is type and point ... but no one could have looked for me (well actually there was no one that actually looked) ... but that is a bit advanced in unlearning … until you begin to see that you have believed in something that isn't ... just like Santa Claus.

Most people would not find any of this helpful … but one will.   ;o)
